Help us keep our wheels turning.
You don’t have to ride motorcycles to volunteer with us, because we’re always looking for new supporters from all backgrounds and levels of experience to join our team. No matter how you support us, every single volunteer contributes to delivering life-saving necessities to hospitals across the Northeast. And we’re truly grateful for every one of them.

Robert, Volunteer Rider
“No two rides are the same, but you know every one of them matters. When the call comes in, you just go. That’s what we’re here for. It’s a way for us to give back to our communities, but it means a lot to the hospitals we support.”

“You might not see us out on the bikes, but we’re always here in the background, making sure everything runs smoothly with the hospitals and the volunteers. It feels good to be part of something that makes a real difference.”

“You’re out there in all weather, at all hours, but you never question why. Every call-out feels meaningful. We all do this because we care, and if it helps hospitals deliver life-saving care, then it’s worth every mile."

Who can volunteer for Cú Chulainn Blood Bikes?
We’re not just seeking bikers, we’re constantly on the hunt for volunteer phone controllers, social media managers, vehicle maintenance mechanics, rota leaders, fundraisers, training and recruitment managers, treasurers, secretaries, and event coordinators. So don’t hesitate to reach out — we need you!
Which qualifications do I need to become a Blood Bike Rider?
If you’re an experienced motorcyclist aged 25 and over with a full and clean A-class motorcycle licence that you’ve had for a minimum of two years, we recommend to undertake the advanced training (ROSPA) qualification to become a fully-fledged CCBB motorcyclist, subject to vetting by An Garda Siochana.
Do volunteers need to be on call full-time?
Not at all. Most of our volunteers commit to a few shifts a month. It’s flexible and designed to work around your availability.
What kind of items do you transport?
We carry blood products, human tissue, infant milk, patient records, x-rays and other time-sensitive medical items between hospitals and labs.
Which areas do you cover?
We operate across the HSE North Eastern Region of Ireland, supporting hospitals in Drogheda, Dundalk, Navan, Cavan, Monaghan, Meath, and into County Fermanagh.
How is the charity funded?
Entirely by public donations. We receive no government funding, so everything we do is made possible through community support.
Can I donate in ways other than money?
Yes! We’re always very grateful for sponsorships, equipment donations, event support, and any help spreading the word about what we do.
How do hospitals request your service?
Hospitals can contact our coordination team directly on 089 258 3715. We’re available outside of standard courier hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
What makes your service different from the HSE or NHS transport?
We don’t replace official services, but by taking on these deliveries, we can help to free up ambulances and medical drivers for critical frontline care.
