Cú Chulainn Blood Bikes began in April 2016,

set up to provide hospitals in Ireland’s Northeast region with a not-for-profit medical delivery network. What started with just a handful of volunteers has become a trusted service that local hospitals rely on every day to deliver life-saving items to their teams.

Every delivery we make helps keep frontline services moving,

covering hospitals in Drogheda, Dundalk, Cavan, Navan, Meath, Monaghan, and crossing the border into County Fermanagh when required. We also work closely with our partner blood bike groups throughout Ireland, North and South, to provide the most efficient and safest pick-up and delivery service for our hospitals.

On specially customised high-powered motorcycles,

our bikers safely transport everything from blood and blood products (plasma, platelets, albumin, etc.) to infant milk, human tissue, x-rays, and patient files.

We help ease the load on ambulance services and hospital drivers

by handling these urgent deliveries. Our highly trained volunteer riders and coordination teams work closely together to respond quickly and reliably, freeing up stretched medical teams to focus where they’re most needed.

Public generosity is what keeps our service running.

We receive no government funding, and every part of our operation, from the bikes on the road to the phones in our control room, is powered by donations and the goodwill of our volunteers.

They make this all possible, so no hospital has to go without.

To everyone who gives their time and their support: thank you for being part of every delivery we make and every mile we travel.
